Chapter 57

"What's the bet?" Emilia asked, her tone steady, almost indifferent.

′′Aone-on-one match! Just you and me," Sebastian retorted with confidence.

From what he knew, gaming wasn't her thing. If she dared to accept, he was certain he'd crush her without breaking a sweat.

Sloane burst into laughter at the sight of his smug grin.

Did this fool have any idea who Emilia really was? To think he could challenge her in a solo match was laughable.

"What's so amusing? You'll be the one bawling when you lose!" Sebastian screamed, glaring at her in irritation. In his eyes, Emilia was infuriating enough, but her friend was worse. He hadn't forgotten the humiliation on the track, and he still seethed at the fact that his hired muscle had failed to make them pay.

"We won't be shedding any tears. But when you're the one who loses, don't start whining about it,"Sloane scoffed with a smirk, folding her arms.

Her confidence unsettled Sebastian, and for the first time, doubt crept in. Could Emilia actually be good at this?

He furrowed his brows, thinking back to the Mitchell estate. She never had games on her phone or her computer, not even something simple like candy-matching apps. No, there was no way-she had to be a total novice.

Sebastian smirked to himself, convinced Sloane was just trying to mess with his confidence. She clearly wanted him to second-guess Emilia, to imagine she was some hidden gaming expert and back away from the bet. As if he'd fall for such a cheap trick. He wasn't nearly as gullible as they were.

"So what's the deal? Are you too scared to face me?"Sebastian taunted, his voice dripping with arrogance. To him, Emilia's hesitation spoke louder than words. If she were truly skilled, she'd have accepted the challenge instantly. Hesitation only proved she was bluffing.

"What are the terms?" Emilia asked coolly, her expression giving nothing away.

His eyes lit up with mischief as he declared, "If I lose, you'll get five million. But if you lose, that red Pagani of yours belongs to me."

"You've lost your mind. That car is worth fifty, maybe sixty million, and you think five million covers it?"Sloane scoffed, rolling her eyes so hard it hurt. There were only five of those in the world, and money alone wouldn't buy one.

"Sebastian, even if I practically gave this car away, it wouldn't go for less than five million. If you want to make a bet, at least come up with something that isn't an insult," Emilia remarked with a sharp laugh.

She knew beating Sebastian would be effortless, but there was no way she'd let him believe five million was enough to buy her Pagani, a car worth ten times that. To him, not only was she worthless, even her car was something beneath his status.

"Admit it, you're scared," Sebastian sneered, hoping to provoke her.

She wasn't about to take the bait. A cold smile curved her lips as she answered, "Cheap tricks won't get to me. If you want this bet, then put thirty million on the table. Otherwise, don't waste my time."

"Thirty million? You think you're worth that much?"Sebastian's voice dripped with disdain as he looked her up and down.

He could afford it, but in his mind, Emilia would always be cheap.

"Then don't bother trying to gamble with me," Emilia answered, her laugh as sharp as broken glass.Sliding her sunglasses into place, she turned to Sloane. "Come on, we're leaving."

When they moved to walk past him, Sebastian lunged forward to block their way. He was certain Emilia was bluffing. She must be desperate to avoid the challenge. If he cornered her into agreeing, the Pagani would be his. One easy victory, and the car would fall into his hands for free. Even if he couldn't stand the idea of her driving it before him,he could hand it off to another wealthy heir and buy himself influence for the Mitchell family.

"Fine. Thirty million it is. I'll take that bet," Sebastian declared, puffing up with confidence.
