Chapter 47
"Emily, hold up a sec!'
Emily saw Sophia leave and was about to head straight towards theperson lurking in the shadows.
Suddenly someone called out to her, panting heavily.
Emily recognized the voice, her expression turning icy, and kept walking with out acknowledging it.
The person quickly stepped in front of Emily, blocking her path. "Youheard me, why won't you stop?"
As she spoke, she stomped her foot, almost like she was throwing atantrum.
Emily frowned, her eyes narrowing as she looked at her, as if to say, "Areyou out of your mind?"
What's wrong with her? Acting cute to the person she didn't get alongwith?’
"Emily, I'm sorry!
Lily understood Emily's look, her face turning red with slightembarrassment.
But she bit her lip and mustered the courage to say it.
Emily's frown deepened, becoming more alert. "What kind of trick are youand Bianca planning now? Pretending to be nice to me and then stabbingme in the back?"
Lily's expression froze.
She hadn't expected her attempt at reconciliation to be misunderstood inthis way
She was also pampered at home, and now she was being misunderstoodeven after admitting her mistake.
Lily's expression turned colder, and she huffed, "I don't have as manyschemes as you.I came to apologize for misunderstanding you aboutBianca's near accident last time.
Emily crossed her arms, looking at her leisurely. "I remember you wereyelling at me in the office just now. This sudden change makes mesuspicious, doesn't it?"
Lily was momentarily speechless
She pursed her lips and sincerely apologized, " just saw the photos andvideos and realized I misunderstood you. It was my mistake, and Iapologize. But that doesn't mean you weren't wrong for bullying Biancabefore, Bianca is kind-hearted, If you just got along with her, you could bethe best of friends."
Emily had always thought of Lily as Bianca's most loyal follower, andsince she disliked Bianca, she also disliked Lily.
She hadn't expected Lily to have some sincerity,
It seemed like she was iust another fool deceived by Bianca.
"I accept your apology. And for the record, it's never been me trying tomake things difficult for her. That line won't work on me.'
Emily said, then walked past Lily and left."...What does that mean?"
Lily was momentarily confused.
She reached out, wanting to stop Emily and ask for clarification.
"Lily, why did you run off alone? Who were you talking to just now?"Bianca, realizing something was off with Lily, hurriedly chased after herwith a bad feeling. Bu勧斯 she only saw Lily standing there, staring into the distance.
The figure walking away seemed to be Emily.
She quickly approached and grabbed Lily, asking.
"I just found out I misunderstood Emily, so I thought l should apologizeand persuade her to get along with you."
Lily didn't hide anything and replied honestly.
Bianca's īheart sank.
Lily, who had always disliked Emily, was starting to change her mind overone incident. This couldn't be happening.
Bianca's eyes reddened, feeling guilty. "It's all my fault for being unwellthese days and not knowing about the online stuff. By the time I foundout and wanted to explain, it was too late. Emily probably thinks I did itand hates me even more.'
Lily thought for a moment but didn't follow Bianca's lead. Instead, sheadvised, "Don't be sad. Maybe Emily didn't think that much. She probablyisn't that petty. Maybe we misunderstood her. She accepted my apologyjust now."
"And when I suggested she get along with you, guess what she said? Shesaid, 'It's never been me trying to make things difficult for her. l should beadvising you."
"What does that mean? So, you think I'm the one making things difficultfor her?"
Bianca's face turned cold, unable to control her outburst.
She had always been gentle and soft-spoken.
This cold and hostile demeanor was something Lily had never seen before.
"[-I didn't mean that. Bianca, I just thought maybe you're too sensitive
and misunderstood her hostility towards you.'
Lily was scared, her voice trembling.
She even instinctively distanced herself from Bianca.
Bianca had been facing setbacks today, something she had neverexperienced before.
She wasn't naturally good-tempered, so she couldn't control her emotionsand revealed her true feelings.
'Sorry, I was just afraid you'd think I'm a bad person. You know you'rethe friend I care about the most, and I'm scared of losing you, so I got soworked up.'
Bianca quickly explained.
Lily, having been friends with her since childhood, immediately believed her.
She was deeply moved, seeing Bianca on the verge of tears, and huggedher, patting her back to comfort her. "I know. I just want you two to getalong so you don't have to be sad and sick every time."
"Thank you for understanding, Lily!" Bianca hugged her, her voice chokedwith emotion.
But her eyes, hidden from Lily's view, were cold and calculating.
Emily was becoming harder to deal with.
What had happened to her recently?
Bianca thought of the phone call Emily made to Daniel. No matter what.
she had to go and see for herself.
She hid her dark thoughts and released Lily.
Then she said, "Lily, wait for me. I'l go talk to Emily and let her know I genuinely want to get along.
"Okay, I'll wait for you!" Lily agreed without much thought.
Bianca let go of Lily and hurried to catch up with Emily.
Emily was almost at the hiding spot when her phone rang.
'Mr. Smith, are you here?"I'm already at the school gate, by the roadside."
Daniel had seen Emily and thought she hadn't noticed his car, so he calledto remind her.
As he spoke, he gave the driver a look
The driver understood and rolled down the window.
Emily heard the call and turned to look at the roadside.
She saw a Maybach with its hazard lights on, signaling her.
The window rolled down.
Emily and Daniel locked eyes from a distance.
His eyes were deep and dark, and when their gazes met, it felt like he wasdrawing her in completely.
Daniel!
Mysterious and intimidating.
Emily thought of the danger lurking nearby.
Daniel meant well, but she didn't want to put him in danger.
She stepped forward but didn't open the car door. Instead, she leaned onthe window and looked at Daniel inside.
Her face, hidden in the shadows, added to the mystery.
"Mr. Smith, I'm sorry. Something came up, and I might be late. Could yougive me an address, and I'll come over later?"
Emily apologized.
Daniel's face, hidden in the shadows, was hard to read.
"Alright."
After a long pause.
Just when Emily thought he might be angry about her delay, she heard hisconcise reply.
Emily breathed a sigh of relief.
'See you later, Mr. Smith!"
Emily waved and stepped back, turning to walk away.
At that moment, Bianca had already caught up
She was about to call out to Emily, but saw her talking to someone in theMaybach and then turning to leave.
As Emily moved aside, the window slowly rolled up, and Bianca saw thecold, distant face inside.
Bianca's pupils contracted, her eyes widening.
How could it be him?
