Chapter 71
"James, are you back in Silverlight City? I've missed you these past few days!"
Bianca's voice was sweet and gentle, or at least she thought so.
James's expression softened at the sound of her voice, especially after hearing Emily's coldtone earlier.
"Yeah, I'm back. Sorry, I've been so busy lately and didn't get a chance to call you," James apologized.
Bianca's smile widened. "James, I get it. You've got a lot going on. I wouldn't hold that aganst you."
Seeing that she wasn't upset, James got to the point. "Bianca, how good is Emily at medicine?"
Bianca's smile faltered.
She had been confident that James called because he missed her, but it turned out he was asking about Emily.
Emily, that persistent shadow. Would she only disappear from James's mind if she vanished completely?
Bianca suppressed her anger and pretended to be troubled. "Emily might be better than some country doctors. James, there's something I haven't had a chance to tell you. Emily is currently assisting Floyd. Last time, Lily and I passed by and saw Floyd vouching for her as she treated Violette's low blood sugar.
"She might think her skills are good because of that, and always wants to treat people. I know Emily is smnart, but medical skills don't improve overnight. I'm worried she might harm someone, so I tried to advise her.
"But you know, Emily doesn't like me and thinks I'm jealous, so she doesn't listen to me. James, did you see Emily treating someone again?".
She painted herself as a concerned sister while making Emily seem unreasonable and stubborn. The comparison naturally made Bianca look better, especially since James had just witnessed Emily's disobedience.
"Yeah, I saw her at Daniel's house. She insisted on treating him, and Daniel believed her. It's ridiculous. She's become so arrogant and stubborn."
James couldn't help but complain.
Bianca became alert.
Every time she contacted or was with James, he mentioned Emily, even if it was ina negative context.
This meant Emily still held a place in his heart.
This was not good.
She needed everyone to ignore and forget Emily.
Bianca's eyes flashed coldly as she pretended to defend Emily. "James, don't be too upset. Maybe Mr. Smith trusted her because of Floyd. Actually, there's something I haven't told you. My dad saw Emily with some guys today, and not just one. He suspects they are influencing her negatively and has started investigating."
"I knew it! She used to listen to me, but now she's rebellious. Those shady people must be corrupting her. I'll find out who they are and deal with them!"
James said fiercely.
Bianca's voice immediately became hoarse and choked. "James, do you think I'm being a tattletale? I didn't mean to speak ill of Emily. I'm just so worried. Even if you misunderstand me, I'll still tell you."
"Bianca, you're so kind. I'm grateful you told me why Emily has changed. How could I blame you? You're just sensitive and overthink, which isn't good for your health. Don't worry, I always trust you." James comforted her patiently.
Bianca didn't completely relax.
"Okay!" Bianca responded obediently, hesitated, and then said, "James, I'm going to Emberfall City tomorrow for a medical competition. I'm nervous and worried I won't do well and help you.

I don't want my family to worry, so I thought of you. Could you come and support me?"
Afraid her request was too much, she quickly added, "Forget it, I shouldn't ask this of you. If Emily finds out, she'll misunderstand. I'm sorry, just pretend I didn't say anything."
James hesitated, feeling it was inappropriate.
But Bianca's understanding nature made him feel tender and soft-hearted. "If Emily gets upset over this, it's her being petty. You have every right to ask. I have some things to handle, but I'll come find you later."
Bianca's smile turned triumphant. "Okay, I'll send you my location. See you soon, James!"
"Alright!"
James agreed and hung up.
His gaze was fixed on the villa's entrance.
As time passed, he checked the time repeatedly, his brows furrowing more and more until they were almost knotted. Finally, the door opened.
Emily appeared at the entrance.
James saw she was alone. She walked along the road, and James felt a secret joy.
It seemed Daniel didn't value Emily that much. Otherwise, he would have sent a driver for her instead of letting her walk and possibly take a cab.
Unbeknownst to him. Emily lived in the neighboring villa, heading towards the gate.

James got out of the car and followed her.
Emily suddenly stopped.
She sensed someone following her, her brows furrowing, her hand tightening, her eyes alert and sharp.
"Emily, stop. I need to talk to you..."
James saw her quicken her pace and hurried to catch up, reaching out to grab her.
As soon as he spoke, Emily's fist flew out.
A fist mark appeared on James's eye, and he clutched the spot in pain, shouting angrily at Emily,"How dare you!"
Emily's fist had already landed when she heard James's voice, too late to pull back.
She didn't regret it.
She was surprised he had the patience to wait for her so long.
Emily felt no guilt or remorse, looking coldly at James, clutching his eye. "You were sneaking around following me. I told you we're done. We have no relationship anymore. When will you stop bothering me?"
"Emily, stop saying nonsense. How can we have no relationship? Do you forget the hard times we went
through together?"
"You forget! Those days are long gone, like that old house that burned down. Do you understand? We've changed, and there's no going back!"
Emily retorted coldly.
Her eyes reddened, not for the current James, but for the past James who had protected her.
'Love had come, but love changes.'
Time remains, but the person is no longer the same!
James saw her red eyes and felt an inexplicable panic. His anger deflated like a punctured balloon.
He hurried to explain, "No, we can go back. The house is still there. I restored it, replaced everything that burned."
Emily's eyes flashed with a strange smile.'′′SO,o,you went into that house and repaired it?"
