Chapter 67
"Get out!"
Byron lay on the bed, looking like a shadow of his former self. His eyes were hollow, and his cheeks were so sunken he was almost unrecognizable.
Hearing the commotion, he glanced at the newcomer with a dark look in his eyes.
Even Bianca, standing right in front of him, couldn't stir any interest. His irritation made his words sharp and cutting.
The pain was coming back.
He even wanted to die.
After shouting, he looked away, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone. He couldn't believe it and looked again.
Emily gave him a calm look.
The moment their eyes met, Byron almost burst into tears.
"You,you,you..."
He struggled to get up and crawl to Emily.
But his body, tormented by illness, had no strength to move.
To Eli and Bianca, it looked like Byron was still holding a grudge against Emily, which was why he was so agitated upon seeing her. Bianca suppressed a smile and pretended to be kind as she went to help Byron. "Byron, don't get worked up.Emily is here to apologize to you today. Please, for the sake of our families' long-standing relationship.forgive her for her mistake."
"Ap-apologize? Dad.Dad..."
Byron was on the verge of tears, trying to push Bianca away.
It was because of her that he had targeted Emily.
He couldn't get close to her, or he wouldn't know how he might die.
But he hadn't rested well for days, and his mind was a bit slow. The more he wanted to express something.the more his agitation made it hard to speak.
"Don't worry, I understand!" Isaac knew why Byron was so agitated.
These past few days, Byron had spent most of his time in pain, unable to eat or rest properly. They had consulted every doctor, all of whom said he wasn't sick.
But he was still in agony.
At first, Isaac thouight Byron was faking it, but as time went on, Byron's voice became hoarse from shouting,he couldn't eat, and he writhed in pain on the bed every day. Byron didn't have the acting skills to fake this,so Isaac finally believed him.
Bianca also noticed something unusual about Byron. She thought that if she could use her medical skills to help him, he would become her most loyal follower.
"Mr.Reyes, what's wrong with Byron? I know a bit about medicine. Why don't I take a look?" Bianca said confidently. Eli's eyes flashed with understanding, immediately grasping Bianca's intention.
He suggested to Isaac, "Why not let Bianca take a look? She's not only an art school graduate but also a top student in medical school, about to compete in a medical competition."
Mentioning Bianca's credentials, Eli proudly raised his head.
Isaac also realized that the Johnson family probably didn't know Emily had medical skills, and quite advanced ones at that.
Isaac looked at Byron. "Do you want Bianca to take a look at you?"
Byron, agitated, shouted, "No, no, no, I don't want her!"
"Alright, alright! Don't get worked up!"
Isaac shook his head at Eli. "You see how itis."
Bianca felt a bit disappointed and embarrassed by Byron's outburst.
But if he treated her this way, he would likely be even worse to Emily.
"Emily, hurry up and apologize to Byron. Calm him down. Look at what you've done to him. Don't you feel any guilt?" Bianca pulled Emily over and urged her.
Emily shook off Bianca's hand, brushing her arm as if she were getting rid of trash.
Then she spoke to Byron, "I'm not great at apologizing in front of a crowd. Can Bianca and Eli leave? You don't mind, do you?"
Byron, having heard from Isaac that Emily had agreed to treat him, immediately understood her meaning. He nodded eagerly. "No. I don't mind at all!"
"Dad, make them leave, please!" Byron turned to Isaac urgently.
"Eli,Bianca,please."
Isaac spoke as he ushered them out, not giving them a chance to argue.
Now,only Emily and Byron were left in the room.
Whether it was hope or something else, Byron, who had been weak moments ago, suddenly found some strength.
He rolled off the bed and knelt before Emily, grabbing her legs and sobbing, "I know I was wrong. Please, treat me. I was wrong. I won't do it again."
Byron, once so arrogant, now groveled like a puppy.
"Let go, you're filthy!" Emily kicked him lightly, and Byron rolled away.
But without Emily's confirmation, he didn't dare get up and crawled back to kneel again.
This time, he didn't dare touch Emily's legs, afraid of angering her.
"Alright, get up. I'll treat you now."
Emily didn't make things difficult for Byron. She had the means to make him suffer without a solution once, and she could do it again.
So,even if she cured him, she wasn't worried about him disobeying.
Byron was so relieved he almost fainted. He looked at Emily with hopeful eyes. Emily took out some acupuncture needles and swiftly inserted them into several points on Byron's body with precision.
Byron didn't dare move.
Her skill with the needles made him think of a true medical expert. He felt nothing but awe.
The effect was immediate.
He felt a warm sensation spreading through his body.
Byron closed his eyes in comfort.
Emily couldn't bear to look.
This guy wasn't very bright, but he had a big heart, and he wasn't even worried about her doing something to him.
Ten minutes later, Emily removed the needles.
"All done!"
Emily spoke calmly.
Byron's eyes widened, and he moved his body. Though still weak, he felt much stronger than before.
He looked at Emily, his eyes welling up with tears again.
"Stop!" Emily glared at Byron. "I can't stand people crying. If you were a girl, I might feel some pity, but you're a man, and I'll just want to kick you."
Byron, who was on the verge of tears, froze. He sincerely knelt before Emily. "Ms. Johnson, from now on, you're my leader. I was blind before. Whatever you need, just say the word, and I'll do it."
"Good, learn from your mistakes. Get up. Your first task is to stop bullying the weak. Apologize to those you've wronged and make amends."
Emily. considering taking Byron as a follower, needed to set him straight.
"Yes, Ms. Johnson, I'll do it tomorrow."
"No rush. Take a few days to recover." Emily thought of something and took out a small box, tossing it to Byron.
"Consider it a gift for becoming my follower. It's for your recovery."
"Thank you, Ms. Johnson!" Byron was moved.
The scent from the box made him feel rejuvenated.
He wished he could go back and beat up his past self for provoking someone so powerful.
He carefully put the box away, then smiled obsequiously. "Ms. Johnson, since I'm your follower now, how about I take you1 somewhere fun?"
Emily raised an eyebrow. "Somewhere fun? Like where?"
