Chapter 111

"None of your business."

Sophia Laurent's icy gaze swept over Gabrielle Winston's perfectly made-up face. The younger Winston sister had always been hostile toward her, finding every opportunity to make trouble.

Before, Sophia would tolerate it out of respect for Ethan. But her patience only seemed to fuel Gabrielle's arrogance.

Gabrielle let out a mocking laugh.

"What's with the attitude, Sophia? Don't want to marry into the Winston family anymore?" She deliberately drew out her words. "Oh right, my brother is engaged to Isabella next month. You should come to the wedding..."

Her eyes gleamed as she watched Sophia's face, waiting for the expected devastation.

"Pass."

Sophia cut her off cleanly. "Ethan and Isabella mean nothing to me. Why would I care about their engagement?"

Gabrielle's smirk faltered when she didn't get the reaction she wanted.

"Who are you trying to fool?" She fiddled with her manicured nails. "Everyone knows you've been obsessed with my brother for three years. Pathetic."

Her gaze suddenly dropped to Sophia's abdomen.

"Wait... You just came from the OB-GYN..." Gabrielle's voice sharpened. "Are you trying to trap him with a baby?"

Sophia nearly laughed at the absurdity.

"Gabrielle, your imagination is wild." A cold smile touched her lips. "Your brother is ancient history. Everyone makes mistakes when they're young."

Gabrielle gaped, stunned by this version of Sophia who once worshipped Ethan.

"Stay away from him!"

"Right back at you." Sophia's tone remained calm. "Tell Ethan to avoid me. I don't want to see him again."

Gabrielle blinked, then sneered.

Her eyes lingered pointedly on Sophia's stomach. "Good. If you're carrying some bastard, get rid of it. Don't think you can pawn it off on our family."

Before she could finish, a sharp slap cracked across her cheek.

Slap!

The sound turned heads nearby.

"Watch your mouth." Sophia's eyes flashed dangerously. "Next time, I won't be so polite."

Gabrielle clutched her stinging face, stunned.

"You—you hit me?" Her voice trembled. "I'm telling Ethan!"

Sophia smirked. "Go ahead. Let's see what he can do."

Gabrielle had never seen this side of Sophia. For once, she was speechless.

But she wouldn't let this go.

With shaking hands, she pulled out her phone and dialed Ethan.

"Ethan! Sophia just slapped me! She—she attacked me!"
