Chapter 35

Sophia Laurent stared at the face that once haunted her dreams. Now it felt terrifyingly unfamiliar.

Without hesitation, she raised her hand. The sharp sound of a slap echoed through the empty parking lot.

"Ethan Winston, your audacity knows no bounds."

Her lips curled into a cold smile. "Did you really think I'd wait for you forever?"

Ethan's cheek burned. He stood frozen, unable to believe Sophia had struck him.

"Three years together, and you just walk away?" His voice tightened. "I can give you everything except marriage."

He tried reasoning with her. "With me, you'll never have to beg for opportunities. Winston Group's resources are yours for the taking."

Only then did Sophia understand his confidence.

He thought she'd come to meet the director for a role.

"Save it." Her gaze turned icy. "We're over."

Ethan frowned.

"That night was a mistake, but throwing wine in my face..."

No woman had ever treated him this way.

And Sophia had ignored him for days.

She cut him off sharply. "Ethan, are you deaf?"

Suddenly remembering, she raised her right hand.

The diamond ring on her finger glittered under the lights.

"Forgot to mention. I'm married now. Let's pretend we're strangers."

This ring was part of the set Patriarch Valdemar had given her.

She'd forgotten to remove it after trying it on.

Ethan looked thunderstruck. "Married? Impossible!"

Everyone knew Sophia belonged to him.

"Sophia, don't joke about this..."

Seeing his shock gave her a twisted satisfaction.

"Dead serious." She yanked open the car door. "My husband dislikes me mingling with exes."

The red sports car roared to life and sped away.

Ethan stood motionless until his phone rang.

How could Sophia be married?

He took a deep breath and answered.

"Isabella, I'm coming home now."
