Chapter 58

Nathan Lowell's brow furrowed slightly.

That voice was all too familiar.

Lifting his gaze, he saw the face he detested most.

Adrian Valentine beamed at Sophia Laurent. "I'm Adrian Valentine. Remember me?"

Sophia gave a slight nod, her lips curving into a faint smile.

"I do."

She had composed music for him before and listened to his songs.

Nathan stared at Sophia's smile, his frown deepening.

An inexplicable bitterness welled up in his chest.

Didn't this woman know Adrian was his sworn enemy?

Adrian noticed the scorching glare and turned with a raised brow. "Well, if it isn't our prodigy singer. What's this? Bonding with your sister backstage?"

Nathan's expression turned icy. "None of your business."

"Actually, it is." Adrian smirked. "The Lowell siblings are hogging public space and delaying the show..."

His gaze flickered between them. "This program isn't your private playground. Other contestants are waiting."

Nathan's face darkened. "What are you implying?"

Emily Lowell bit her lip, eyes glistening. "I'm sorry... This is all my fault..."

Seeing her distress, Nathan's anger flared.

"Adrian, enough. If you have a problem, take it up with me. Leave my sister out of this."

"Tsk tsk tsk." Adrian chuckled. "The legendary sister complex in action."

He cast a meaningful glance at Emily's teary face. "Pity some people remain oblivious pawns..."

Turning to Sophia, his expression softened.

"Composer T, let's go. No need to watch this farce."

Sophia had wanted to leave anyway. "Alright."

As they turned, Nathan suddenly spoke. "Sophia."

She paused, looking back impassively. "Yes?"

"You know exactly how things stand between us."

Their feud was common knowledge in the industry.

Sophia found it laughable. "What does that have to do with me?"

She'd heard rumors about the rising stars' rivalry.

But why should she care?

Nathan clenched his fists at her indifference. "You're still my sister."

Sophia actually laughed.

After a beat, she murmured, "What a curse that would be."

Nathan's face turned stormy.

Beside him, Emily watched Sophia's cold demeanor, the corners of her lips lifting briefly before morphing back into concern.

"Sister, how could you say such things?"
