Chapter 187
Blood Relation
William Lowell stared at the investigation report in his hands, his fingertips trembling slightly.
The black-and-white document clearly stated—Derek Langley was Emily Lowell's biological uncle.
He never imagined that the adopted daughter he cherished would share blood ties with the biggest parasite in his company.
Emily had lived in luxury since childhood. How could she possibly know a street gangster?
What's more suspicious was her insistence on recommending this man for a position at Lowell Entertainment.
Derek's resume had looked impeccable at the time. Who would have guessed it was entirely fabricated?
William recalled Sophia's vehement objections, his chest tightening with pain.
He had even accused Sophia of having a personal grudge against Derek.
Now, the thought seemed utterly ridiculous.
"Mr. Lowell!" His assistant burst in, panic in his voice. "The shareholders have gathered. They're furious."
The file slipped from William's grasp and fell to the floor.
He knew they had come to demand answers.
His legs weakened, forcing him to grip the desk for support.
At this moment, he missed Sophia more than ever.
His daughter, who had once managed the company with flawless efficiency.
In just one month, Lowell Entertainment had descended into chaos.
"Should we ask the senior Mr. Lowell to return?" the assistant cautiously suggested.
William shook his head.
His father had been immersed in the film industry for years and was no longer familiar with corporate affairs.
Taking a deep breath, he finally made up his mind.
The only person who could save Lowell Entertainment now was Sophia.
As for Emily... that matter would have to wait.
"Tell the shareholders I'll personally address their concerns in a few days."
William grabbed his car keys and strode out.
If he apologized sincerely, Sophia would surely come back.
This thought alone renewed his resolve.
