Chapter 499
Are the Lowells all fools?
Any idiot would choose their biological daughter over an adopted one.
Yet the Lowells are clearly blind.
Patriarch Valdemar began preparing the banquet at dawn.
He researched dietary restrictions for pregnant women and arranged for the freshest ingredients to be airlifted in.
Besides Alexander and Sophia, he also invited Adrian, Julian, and his grandniece Vanessa.
Vanessa was the only girl in the Valdemar third generation, doted on since childhood.
She'd just returned from a global tour when she called the old man, still dusty from travel.
"Happy birthday, Grandfather!"
Her voice was bright and melodious.
"I saw the canals in Venice, watched sunsets in Santorini, and brought you handmade glassware..."
The Patriarch couldn't stop smiling.
"When are you coming home, Vanessa? I want to introduce someone to you."
Vanessa was the granddaughter of Patriarch Valdemar's younger brother.
Her parents lived overseas, so she'd grown up in the Valdemar household.
"Who is it? Why so mysterious?"
Her tone turned playful.
"Your cousin Alexander got married. You'll meet his wife Sophia today."
"No way!"
Vanessa's voice rose in surprise. "I actually have a sister-in-law now?"
"Would I lie about that?"
The old man sounded proud. "She's quite remarkable—beautiful and capable..."
"Well, I'll have to see for myself."
Vanessa hung up with a laugh and immediately searched online.
Discovering Sophia owned Pearl Entertainment and had connections with Gavin Croix, her eyes lit up.
A new sister-in-law...
She'd need an impressive welcome gift.
Vanessa arrived at the estate before the newlyweds.
Sophia heard silver-bell laughter the moment she stepped inside.
She paused in surprise.
The stern Patriarch rarely smiled, even with his own grandsons.
Who was this girl?
