Chapter 345
"The Eden Project's location is prime real estate. Developing luxury residences there would guarantee massive profits."
"Real estate remains the most stable investment."
"The market is too volatile right now. Investing carelessly carries huge risks."
"Ordinary housing may not sell, but high-end mansions will always have buyers."
The boardroom buzzed with debate.
Vincent Valdemar sat in the corner, impeccably dressed in his tailored suit, his gaze never leaving Sophia Laurent.
Sophia silently noted each shareholder's stance.
The argument raged for half an hour.
She remained silent throughout.
Tensions mounted among the board members.
Finally, someone turned on her.
"Madam President, as the leader, shouldn't you voice your position?"
The room fell silent.
All eyes locked onto her.
"During an economic downturn, the wealthy liquidate properties for cash." Sophia's voice was ice-cold. "Entering the market now would be unwise."
Several brows furrowed the moment she finished speaking.
Her words directly contradicted Vincent's proposal.
"Madam President, you're mistaken." Director Granger slammed the table. "Housing is a necessity. People will always buy."
Sophia's cold gaze swept over him. "Have you reviewed the latest market reports, Director Granger? Do you know the vacancy rates in the suburbs?"
Granger faltered.
"The Valdemar Group built its empire on real estate." He quickly recovered. "For our acting president to dismiss it outright—do you have ulterior motives?"
His words ignited the room.
Vincent's supporters emerged one after another.
"The Eden Project is perfect for residential development. Why oppose it?"
Others defended Sophia.
"The president already gave her reasoning. Are you deaf?"
The atmosphere grew increasingly hostile.
"The Valdemars should lead the Valdemar Group!" Someone tore off the facade.
"Letting an outsider play CEO is a joke!"
